Hackers take over Twitter accounts of Barrack Obama, Bill Gates Apple, Elon Musk And More

AlbertflexAlbertflex in July 18, 2020

On Wednesday night, Twitter accounts of some of the world's prominent personalities and companies were allegedly hacked in a major security breach.

The social networking giant witnessed a Bitcoin scam tweet published on the Twitter accounts of Apple, Elon Musk, Bill Gates, Barack Obama, Joe Biden, Jeff Bezos and a dozen of other verified accounts.

The hackers used the official account of tech giants Apple to write: “We are giving back to our community. We support Bitcoin and we believe you should too,”. “All Bitcoin sent to our address below will be sent back to you doubled,” it added, before including a link to click on.

Some of the Twitter accounts owners tried deleting the tweet but this didn't help as the hacker republished the tweets. This went on across the accounts of the verified and famous individuals, raising concerns over Twitter’s security.

Top of the list of hacked accounts was that of one of the world's richest and famous financier Warren Buffett. His account was used to publish the the same scam tweet as seen below:

Also, among the victims of the attack is former U.S. President Barack Obama whose account, according to a tweet cached by Google, was attemptedly used to persuade people to click to raise Covid-19 funds.

In response to the attack, the CEO of Twitter stated that it was a tough day for Twitter. All the Twitter employees are investigating and will share everything they can after getting a complete understanding of what exactly went wrong. Later on, Twitter also stopped the ability to send tweets to some of the accounts as they were trying to address the incident. They further tweeted that they have locked accounts that were compromised and will only restore the access to owner only when they can do surely.

Furthermore, Justin Sun, the founder of the cryptocurrency platform TRON and current CEO of BitTorrent announced a sum of $1 million bounty for the hackers. According to the announcment, Justin will personally pay those who successfully track down, and provide evidence for bringing to justice, the hackers behind this Twitter incident.

We will provide you with updates on this as it uncovers.

These scammers are really criminals ,and it takes more than one person to pull such a big stunts and to think that so respectable people in the society are making plans for themselves and writing their names in history some others are luring in the shadows trying to steal from them . only God knows the amount of bitcoin they must have syphoned from the masses before it was taken down from tweeter . And I must that the reward money promised is actually a nice motivation for the criminals to be brought to justice quickly.
